In 1969, Breitling became one of the first manufacturers to create a self-winding chronograph movement. They needed a new collection to debut the revolutionary function, and the Chrono-Matic was born. The models are characterized by an oversized case and a uniquely positioned winding crown, located at the nine o’clock position as opposed to the typical three o’clock position. Although the Chrono-Matic is no longer in production, it remains a key watch in the history of Breitling.
